Re: [gmf-dev] Removal of MSL Compatibility and Related Plug-ins This Week

Hi Max,
The org.eclipse.gmf.tests.runtime.emf.ui plugin does not seem to use the uml2 stuff. The dependency should be removed.
Thanks
Vishy

Christian, Vishwanath,

The reason integration build doesn't build seems to be in the unresolved dependency from org.eclipse.gmf.tests.runtime.emf.ui  to org.eclipse.uml2.edit plugin, which isnt' included in the new UML2 I-build package. I guess we don't need this dependency anymore so we could get rid of it?

Best regards,
Max

Hi, all,

Vishy has committed my patch, and it looks good!  The latest continuous build shows no org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.emf.core.compatibility plug-in in the build and no org.eclipse.gmf.tests.runtime.emf.core plug-in in the JUnit report.  All other plug-ins seemed to build OK and their tests pass; I'm just not sure about the packaging, because the continuous build doesn't do that (right?).

Max, I'm not sure what caused the integration build to fail, but could it possibly indicate a problem in packaging since my plug-in removals?  I don't see that it would be related ...

Cheers,

Christian

Hi Christian,

I'm not sure I can see the patch committed to CVS. When do you plan to do this?

Thanks,
Max

Hi, all,

I have updated
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=129416 with patches to perform the following changes:
  • delete the following plug-ins from mapfiles, PSFs, feature manifests, and build/test scripts:
    • org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.emf.core.compatibility:  the "MSL Compatibility" plug-in
    • org.eclipse.gmf.examples.runtime.emf:  the MSL example, which is obsoleted by an enhanced Logic Diagram example
    • org.eclipse.gmf.tests.runtime.emf.core:  the test plug-in tested the MSL API; we will need to create a new one for the emf.core plug-in and then re-instate it in the build and test scripts
    • update the on-line documentation to:
      • delete all of the EMFT content, now that EMFT delivers this separately
      • delete the MSL content (except for Clipboard)
      • fix up one or two other problems (e.g., broken links) that I found in testing my doc changes

Are there any objections to these changes being committed for this week's I-build?

Max/Rich, I think that I have covered all of the build- and packaging-related files that deal with these plug-ins.  I'll keep a close eye on the continuous builds to look for problems after commit, but maybe you want to try a test build of these patches before they are committed?

      Thanks,

      Christian
