That did the trick. I thought we were running rc5 but turns out we are running rc3.

Hi Justin,
This is likely due to a bug in our data store. What version of GeoMesa are you using? It should be fixed in rc5 and later.
You can work-around it by going to the accumulo data store configuration page in geoserver and setting 'caching' to false.
