I can just say that I have been developing JSF components and PrimeFaces since ~ 10 years and I never saw any usage of it.

Have you ever used it?

I want to express my concern to remove the extension tag from the composite library.

 

This tag is a way for the component writer to have a way to express any metadata that

they wish the express about the component they wrote in a XML manner.  So while the

runtime ignores it (and thus it appears unused) it is there for the component writer.
