[epsilon-dev] Oomph profiles for Epsilon

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently been working on trying to automate the installation of Epsilon (both for us committers and for end users) using the Eclipse Installer (“Oomph”), which is how Eclipse is usually installed nowadays. I think I’ve finally managed to figure it out. There are two setup models for the Oomph installer: one for the Eclipse distribution (referred to as the “Product” model) and one for developers (the “Project” model). I have developed both (available form [1]), and so it appears that we can now easily create new Epsilon releases without having to manually create distributions. All we need to do is submit a Bugzilla asking for the setup files to be included as part of the Oomph installer, and whenever someone downloads the Eclipse installer, they will be able to select Epsilon from the list and get up and running with either the Interim or Stable release. At least, that’s the plan!

Please let me know if this works for you (by downloading the Eclipse installer and using the setup files in [1]) and if you have further suggestions. Hopefully if all goes well we can then (finally) release 2.0?

Thanks,

Sina
