The packaging site uses two files to build
up information on each package they are located in each release directory.
Example /home/data/httpd/download.eclipse.org/technology/epp/downloads/release/helios/M6
<packagename>.xml
<packagename>.feature.xml
Most of the information is contained in
the <packagename>.xml file, however I do read in the <packagename>.feature.xml
file to get a list of features to display on the more details page.

Subject: Re: [epp-dev] Questions
about EPP build, and pulling capability bundles
I believe Nathan uses the map file to help build the
packaging download page. I agree it would be great to get to a
state where the package maintainer could make changes without involving
Markus. (nothing again Markus :-) ) Nathan can
you please confirm what you need for the download page?

Hi Markus,
As
you might notice in
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=300913
I
have figured out how to get our capability bundles into the common repo,
without using a feature. So they are "in there" (now in
/releases/staging) even though you can't see them with the normal install UI.
(as desired)
But,
I have been able to pull them out using the p2.mirror ant task, so I am hoping
that is enough for you to be able to apply the patch in
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=300913
and
build right away without further to-do.
Now
for the question. About the "jee.intro" bundle. How have you been
getting that? I don't think it was in the repo last year, and wonder if you
have a map file somewhere and "build" it in the EPP build?
If
so, I'm wondering if you can drop that now, as I've also put it in the central
repository using the same system as for the capability bundles ... that is,
just the bundle is there, unseen by most, but pullable if you know to ask for
it.
Seems
that'll be a much easier system, as we can make fixes, etc., without involving
you. But ... like I said, I don't recall how that was ever working. Its listed
in the jee package feature ... and wouldn't it be cool if that was enough to
get it from the central repository! But, if you have a map file too, there
might be some to-do?
Much
thanks,
