I'll double check with the legal team to see if there's nothing stopping us from putting out an update site with an updated copy of EGit. Ideally we should have a build that does this but we are waiting on the Foundation to get an officially supported git.eclipse.org repo for us. On the bright side, the GIT plug-in gets enabled on build.eclipse.org tomorrow (https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=294409) so that will help me get some builds out.
