Greetings PMC Members.
I think that this is our first request for a Release Review approval. Exciting times!
The release process is described in the
handbook. Our role, however, is not very clearly defined there.
The short version is that the PMC's role is to validate that the Eclipse Development Process has been followed, that the release fits within the technical vision of the EE4J TLP, and that the project is otherwise operating in accordance with good open source principles. I encourage PMC members to do things like check the CONTRIBUTING documentation to ensure that it includes build instructions, references to the ECA, and other such things (I'll admit that I do this sporadically, generally based on available bandwidth).
It's worth noting that, by approving the project's IP Log review request, the IP Team has validated that intellectual property is being properly tracked by the project.
In my EMO role, I look for a +1 from any PMC member in response to this sort of request. You can use the thread to ask questions and clarifications, or request that additional material be added to the review documentation. If the PMC wants the EMO to respond differently (e.g. wait for more than one +1), let me know.
My personal preference is that review documentation include a short paragraph that describes the release. As a PMC we may decide that we want more than that; we don't need to decide that now. For this first release, IMHO, what Lukas has provided here is perfect.
Having said that, Lukas, I'm pretty sure we want (maybe "need" as I don't think that you can use that URL as we move forward) that "getting started" documentation moved to the project's EF website. Can you please open an issue to track that for your next release? I can help with this.
So... PMC members... can I get a +1?
