[ee4j-build] Notes from today's EE4J Infra discussion (Feb 21, 2018)
 |
Progress reports:
GlassFish progress -- still having issues with secure copy between
Jenkins Master and Slave -- How to move data from masters to slaves. An
issue was raised and a solution is currently being worked out.
Otherwise, little externally visible progress was made this week for
GlassFish build automation. Dev test porting is currently hung-up until
we have solved the master to slave secure copy issue.
No progress reports from other team members.
Prague -- Tomas was out. Not much progress. Bugzilla to create "real"
JSON P environment. Lukas didn't make much progress. Lots of diversions
to higher priority work.
Eclipse -- Working to improve Jenkins resource availability. Builds
sometimes take 5x. May provide Jenkins pinned jobs. Should have more
feedback about the varying response time of DB server next week. So far,
issue backlog for Oracle inquiries is not adversely impacting response
time. Oracle employees are encouraged to file issues sooner than later
when problems are encountered. If that becomes too noisy, we can update
this advice.
Any Other Business
Q: Do all components need an automated build?
A: Not strictly. Any component that is actively evolving and already has
build automation should have that automation ported to Eclipse
infrastructure. Components that are not actively evolving may be built
and released manually, but this process must be documented so that a
community member can pick it up, if needed, in the future. The guidance
is: Be Reasonable. The current effort is primarily focused on migrating
what we have now, to Eclipse. If we can improve the operational side,
great. If it's a large work effort to automate and manual builds are
reasonable, that's okay so long as a documentation trail is left behind.
Q: Should we continue holding this meeting?
A: We will continue holding this meeting for another few weeks. If we
don't have enough material, we may consider making this an optional
meeting. For now, we will just shorten the calendar reminder to 30
minutes. If any agenda topics are necessary, please e-mail the list by
mid-day (Noon) PST, Tuesday. (Subject: EE4J-Build team agenda Item: ...)
Please reply with any updates/corrections/clarifications.
Thanks,
