It works now!
The reason of previous problem was customer property in Order class.
After removing this bidirectional property my sample works.

Yes @JoinColumn and no "mappedBy" marks the OneToMany as unidirectional.

@JoinColumn(name="CUST_ID") // join column is in table for Order public Set<Order> getOrders() {return orders;}
