Re: [eclipse.org-architecture-council] AC 9-Jul Meeting Minutes

The new version of the supporting documentation that I mentioned on the call, something that I'm referring to as the Eclipse Project Handbook is here:

https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/

The PDF is here:

https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/eclipse.pdf

This is the result of me combing through the wiki to pull out the bits that I think are important for project teams, and to assemble them into a single coherent document.

Some of the generation is a bit wonky (especially in the PDF), but I'm continuing to iterate on it (I may call on Chris to help me work on some better CSS). I'm generally happy with the content, but there are some consistency issues that I'm still working on.

FWIW, using Aciidoctor has made it relatively easy to create LocationTech and PolarSys specific versions:

https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/locationtech.html
https://www.eclipse.org/projects/handbook/polarsys.html

Note that none of this is currently publicly linked.

The source is here if you're interested:

http://git.eclipse.org/c/www.eclipse.org/projects.git/tree/handbook

At some point, I will have to move this to a separate repository to make it much easier to accept contributions. For now, however, while you do have to replicate the entire 'projects" repository, you don't need any of it to actually work/run to hack at the handbook.

There's a makefile in the source directory that builds everything because that seemed like the most appropriate solution. There's a few dependencies that are evident in the makefile.

I'd love to hear your input.

Hi all,

Minutes of today’s meeting are now online:

We’ve had a great and lively discussion, PLEASE do look at the 3 initiatives proposed by Wayne – these are great opportunities for us at the AC:

·         Funding https://wiki.eclipse.org/Architecture_Council/Meetings/July_9_2015#Development_Funding

·         EDP Simplifications https://wiki.eclipse.org/Architecture_Council/Meetings/July_9_2015#EDP_Update

·         Hackathon / Dev Area https://wiki.eclipse.org/Architecture_Council/Meetings/July_9_2015#Hackathon_Concept_-_Development_Area

Each of these initiatives has an Umbrella Bug for discussion and feedback.

Please do participate !

Thanks,

Martin
