FWIW, we are working on an Eclipse brand strategy to help resolve
the overloaded term 'Eclipse'. The strategy is being provided to the
Eclipse Foundation Board for approval. Part of the strategy is a
recommendation to rename the Eclipse TLP. Once the Board has
reviewed the strategy I would be happy to go through it with the
Eclipse PMC.

This comes up in conversation every few years.
Usually, the outcome is that we realize that the value of
changing this isn't worth the confusion/cost. Really, for
every person who is confused, there are thousands (millions?)
who already know where to go to get the SDK. Think even of all
the places where there are external links based on the current
name, for example.
I can't say I'm completely against the idea, but
someone would need to come up with a comprehensive plan for
the transition and then convince me it was workable first.
