Hmmm. I see where you're coming from.

It's easy to confuse download.eclipse.org/eclipse with the actual eclipse download site where you can get various packages:
https://www.eclipse.org/downloads/?

I actually remember when I started Eclipse development, I got confused with the various download links.

Where as download.eclipse.org/platform  would make it a bit more clear that it's a download for eclipse's "core".

It wouldn't hurt to rename the page, but imho before we work on renaming that page, we should give more love to this guy:

I don't see a relationship between the question with the download URL.
The first time I hear a user say "I'm really confused, I downloaded
the Eclipse IDE from an URL with contained "eclipse" I might
reconsider. :-)

The above is of course just joke my friend, so don't try to reason about it.

If the project members and users want to change the download URL, I
don't mind. I just wanted to say, that as a user of the Eclipse IDE, I
don't find the current URL confusing.

If you get enough traction for changing it, I personally won't mind.
