Use the ProgressMonitorDialog to run the operation - that is exactly what
it is designed for.
If you are using 3.0 I would also suggest using some of the API in
IProgressService and let the framework do the work for you.

[eclipse-dev] Progress bars and threads
Hi guys,
I know I shouldn't be posting to this list for this sort of question,
its just that I am trying to write an eclipse based app for importing
data off an iPAQ application (written with SWT and Java), but I can't
find a way to update the progress bar from another thread....... Can
anyone give me a quick solution?
