Re: [eclipse-dev] synchronize navigator with edit
|
Frank,
You are correct. In 2.0, the Navigator had a preference for back-linking.
For 2.1 M4, we changed this to a one-off Sync action in the toolbar of the
Navigator (the Package Explorer never adopted this).
For 2.1 M5, we tried replacing back-linking with a more general Show In...
feature in the Navigate menu, and removed the Sync action from the
Navigator.
However, we were over-ambitious in this attempt, and got feedback from
many people that back-linking is a useful option.
Based on this feedback, we are adding back-linking back, but not as a
global preference. It will now be a per-view setting in the toolbar of
the Navigator and Package Explorer.
The related Help topics are out of date, but will be revised for 2.1.
For all the details, see:

If you have any comments on this topic, please add them to this bug
report.

Subject: [eclipse-dev] synchronize navigator with edit
Dear all,
In a previous previous stable build of Eclipse, the navigator synchronize
itself to the opened file in the editor, by setting an option in the
preferences.
In a previous stable build, the option was not availavle anymore but you
could synchronize the navigator by a button or menutopic.
In the latest version (M5) neiter the options is available and neither the
menutopic.
The helpfiles seems to keep refering to the option in the preferences.
Can any one tell me if the synchronization is still available ?
Best Regards,
Frank
