Re: [ecd-pmc] PMC +1

Please share the notes from that retrospective. This would be a tangible demonstration that the team is able to at least nominally work in a transparent manner.

What specifically do the team intend to try?

What practices do the team believe are subject to choice (that is what practices are considered optional)?

Hi All

As Wayne recommended, I would like to ask for an exemption from the PMC.  I've had a few conversations with individual team members and several with their management and here is what we have come up with as an interim solution.

The team had a retrospective specifically on this subject and they came up with several ideas on how to change the way they do things.  They see positives and negatives to each of them and would like to actually try each of them internally before choosing one (or a combination).  They work in 2 week sprints and would like to finish the current iteration before starting this (~3 weeks from now).  So I expect the first attempt to start in about 3 weeks.  Hopefully we will be able to see some smaller changes starting to flow to the repository some time after that, as opposed to the monolithic commits that we are seeing now.  I believe that they have more than 2 things they want to try, so I wouldn't expect a quick transition and the commit patterns are likely to vary during this time.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Scott.

Thanks for the update Wayne.  My comments were based in Maria saying that 'we can declare success on this progress review once we get PMC +1.'    I made an assumption.

I'm not the person that has been working with the team towards improving in this area.  But I do know those efforts are happening, both within the team and at the management level.  Let me touch base with the relevant people and reply to this thread once I have something more tangible and something that resembles a plan.

Thanks for the quick and helpful response!

Scott.

Hi Scott.

Clarification: The EMO does not approve a review until after we receive +1 from the PMC. The EMO has completed an IP review and believes that the project conforms to the Eclipse Foundation's IP Policy.

The sticking point is that the project is not, AFAICT, operating according to the EDP. While I will not speak for the PMC, I believe that you should be asking them to grant an exception. For that I recommend that you provide some sort of tangible demonstration (e.g., a plan with dates) that the project team is moving to rectify this situation.

Hello

The project that I am a project lead for, Che4z, https://projects.eclipse.org/projects/ecd.che.che4z recently went for a progress review.  We were overdue for one and this was our first review for this project.

As you can see, after a little back and forth, the project passed the review.  We are now awaiting +1 from the PMC.  I'd like some guidance on what we are waiting on.  Wayne Beaton suggested that I email this list to see what specific steps that we can take to get final approval.

Thanks for looking into this,
