[e4-dev] Extensions for E4

This is to open a conversation on how
to extend the E4 environment. I've opened a Bugzilla to track the input:

Here's the opening text for the bug:

We currently have two ways we're working with e4;
simple E4 apps (photo and
contacts) and the compatibility layer. The first contains no extension
mechanism (aside from editing the XMI file). This is correct in the philosophy
of 'do simple things simply'. The other (by definition) will recognize
and
manage -all- the existing eclipse UI/IDE extension points.

This defect is to gather up information on how to provide a native extension
mechanism for E4 and what extensions should it handle:

Which existing extension points should e4 support ?
Which new extension points should it introduce ?
How should extensions in e4 be managed ?

Anyone is invited to add themselves
to the defect and post their input...the more the merrier (and the better
our chances of getting it right)
