Hi Maria Teresa,
hi Digital Twin PMC,
happy new year!
Please find below the required information for the graduation review of BaSyx:
-
Solid working code with stable APIs
o
We have provided a multitude of releases (cf. [1]) that are providing a stable API and are backwards-compatible
-
An established and growing community around the project
o
We’re fostering our community by a multitude of activities. We’re interacting on the basyx-dev mailing list,
we’re discussing on GitHub (cf. GitHub issues [2]) and furthermore, we have established a monthly BaSyx Open Hour were everyone can join, discuss and ask questions (cf. [3])
-
Diverse multi-organization committer/contributor/developer activity
o
Entities contributing include but are not limited to Fraunhofer IESE, Bosch, RWTH Aachen, HTW Berlin, objective
partner
-
Operation in the open using open source rules of engagement
o
As already mentioned above, we’re fostering active and open discussions using the mailing list, GitHub issues
and pull requests (e.g. [4]).
@DT-PMC: Please provide your +1 if this is sufficient for our graduation from incubation from your perspective.
If there are any questions or other open points, I will gladly add further information.
Best regards,
Frank

Hi Frank,
there is no preferred style for the documentation, you could prepare an email with pointers to the requested documentation:
·
solid working code with stable APIs; ---> could be a pointer to some stable release
·
an established and growing community around the project; ---> pointer to forum, mailing list, events, etc.
·
diverse multi-organization committer/contributor/developer activity; and ----> mention the organizations that have and are actively contributing to
your project
·
operation in the open using open source rules of engagement. ---> pointer to some discussion in the open, could be a pull request, a thread in the
public mailing list exchanging some communication with a potential contributor, etc. (if any)
Or simply state these in your email body. That email should be shared with the PMC and with the EMO. Make sure to explicitly communicate to the PMC your intentions to graduate. The PMC will back you up, or push back if they feel some of
these requirements are not met yet.
With the holiday break coming up, I'll do my best to get this done before the end of last week. Please do so also yourself, so we can get PMC's +1 before that day.
Or, if you prefer, we can reschedule the whole graduation for January 11th. Do let me know what you want to do.
Hi Theresa,
thanks for pointing this out. Yes, this makes sense. Is there any preferred documentation
style for providing information on the mentioned points? Would it be possible to provide me with an example of a graduation review that I could take as reference?
Best regards,
Frank

Betreff: Re: Eclipse BaSyx Graduation Review
Hi Frank,
graduation reviews are
generally combined with release reviews, but not necessarily. We could schedule a graduation review combined with a progress review (which is not associated to a particular release) if you can provide the necessary documentation and get the PMC's +1
at any time.
Please let me know how you want to proceed.
Kind regards,
Hi Theresa,
many thanks for your feedback. Thus, a graduation review is only possible in combination
with a release review? The last release review was in March – in consequence, the next one would be around this time.
Is it possible to trigger the graduation review without a release review? Or can I trigger
a release review right now without an accompanying release to step out of incubation?
Best regards,
Frank

Betreff: Re: Eclipse BaSyx Graduation Review
Hi Frank,
just following up with you regarding this Graduation review, do you have an idea of when will this happen?
Let me know when you're ready so I can schedule it.
Dear Frank,
as stated in the Handbook, when a project wants to graduate from incubation, it needs to provide some extra documentation:
For a graduation review, release review documentation must be augmented to include demonstration of:
·
solid working code with stable APIs;
·
an established and growing community around the project;
·
diverse multi-organization committer/contributor/developer activity; and
·
operation in the open using open source rules of engagement.
Dear all,
I would like to trigger a graduation review for Eclipse BaSyx to move it out of the incubation stage. Do you need any documents/further input for this?
Best regards,
Frank
