Hi Eric,

quick explanation:

We are already using ASM in MTJ, it was one of the dependencies brought 
in by EclipseME code we incorporated.
At the time of the "import" of EclipseME, we used ASM version 3.0.

Now, post Galileo we want to move forward to the newer version 3.1, 
which is already an approved "Orbit" package.
It has the same license as 3.0 and presumably fewer Bugs.

In general - I prefer to move with the latest and greatest version of 
any dependencies, so we avoid pegging ourself to
old, stale and non-maintained code dependencies.
