RE: [dsdp-mtj-dev] RE: Contribute truzip subset to orbit

Title: Contribute truzip subset to orbit
Martin,
I think it would be a good idea to have more than one person
from MTJ able to do this work. Would you please work with Christian and
Gustavo to select a backup Orbit committer for the MTJ
project?

hi martin,
thanks for that.
i note that there are other two libs that we currently use on
mtj that are already on orbit (asm and antlr). one of the eclipse train
requirements is not to duplicate libraries that are already on orbit. since
that, i need to remove those libraries from my mtj svn and use the orbit ones.
besides that, i also update my build script to consume those bundles from orbit,
isn't it?
:)

Hi Gustavo,
First of all, when you are going to maintain the lib on Orbit
(which I
think is a good idea), you'll need to become Committer on
Orbit.
Since I am the only DSDP Orbit committer for now, I just went
ahead and proposed you as a new committer via the
Portal.
Existing Orbit Committers will now vote and then
propose you to
the PMC, which should take just a bit more than a week
at most,
probably less depending on responsiveness of existing
Orbit
committers and the
PMC.
Once you are an Orbit Committer, you can use the Portal
in
Orbit Committer Mode, and add a new Orbit CQ for your
approved lib (there is an "add external lib to Orbit"
button).
Then, you can commit your stuff into Orbit as per the
Wiki docs here:
which I hope are still accurate :-) Of course you can
also look
at how other bundles have been added. There's basically
just few things to keep in
mind:
-
All Orbit Work happens in branches (v1_0 branch for
lib v1.0)
-
In CVS, your 3rd party libs and sources are
maintained in extracted form
-
Be sure to add proper legal info (about.html
etc)
-
Once you think you are done, release your stuff into
the Orbit Mapfile.
Your friendly fellow Orbit committers will surely help
in case
there are any
questions.
Cheers,

Hi,
I'm a committer on DSDP.MTJ project and we are
using a library called truezip inside MTJ. Some other projects demonstrate an
interest in also using this library, and, since that, i would like to see how
can i contribute it to orbit and avoid duplication of the library. The library
is already approved (here is a link to its CQ: https://dev.eclipse.org/ipzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=2236). It is also packed as a plugin inside MTJ SVN (http://dev.eclipse.org/viewsvn/index.cgi/org.eclipse.mtj/trunk/plugins/de.schlichtherle.truezip/?root=DSDP_SVN)
Can someone help on that?
Thanks
gustavo
