Re: [dsdp-mtj-dev] MTJ 0.9 Integration Build Available
|
One more update. I decided to try to track down the microemulator
problem. Unfortunately, I can't nail it down. Now, it won't fail at
all for any emulator version. This leads me to believe this must be
some sort of a race condition. I will try to find more time to look
into it, but wanted to bring everyone up to date on what I'm seeing.
I also wrote up a new bug having to do with the Java-based emulators and
the new default preverifier.

Everyone,
I apologize for being so quiet lately. Unfortunately, work has been
beyond hectic lately. Anyway, I wanted to take a bit of time with the
0.9 integration build and to report back today.
The first thing that I wanted to look at is the issue with the
microemulator import I was seeing. Unfortunately, it still exists.
The interesting part is that it appears to be *somehow* related to
Eclipse 3.4. When running on Eclipse 3.3, I'm not seeing the issue.
The issue happens for any version of microemulator. Is anyone other
than me testing with Eclipse 3.4? I think we need to make sure that
MTJ works correctly when installed into Eclipse 3.4. My current
theory is that this is somehow related to the "skins" support that was
introduced in MTJ. That does not exist in EclipseME and may be
leading to some sort of a problem. Given my lack of time in recent
weeks, I'm not sure if I will be able to look too deeply in this... if
anyone has a chance to try microemulator on Eclipse 3.4 on Ubuntu
Linux that would be helpful.
A couple of things in terms of builds/installers. The current build
outputs may be related to the way I was doing things in EclipseME, but
I don't think it is consistent with what is normally available for
download from the official Eclipse sites. I saw two things that we
should fix:
1) The SDK download should not require the runtime download... it
should be included. It took me a few attempts to reconcile what was
going on since most other Eclipse downloads have the SDK download
including the runtime.
2) The downloads should be simple unzippable zip files rooted at
"eclipse" Especially given the new "dropins" P2 support in Eclipse
3.4, it is important that the download can be easily unzipped into the
dropins and ready to run.
Good work on the debug warning. It is now working the way that I
would expect it to work. I'd like to suggest some more minor wording
changes to what I'm currently seeing. The changes are surrounded by
asterisks... the asterisks would not be included in the text. Also, I
think the options should be surrounded in quotes to separate them from
the rest of the sentence.

There are some problems with your Java Debug settings for MTJ debug.
Do you want to fix *them*?
The "Suspend execution on uncaught exceptions" option must not be
checked on *the* Java Debug preference page.
The "Suspend execution on compilation errors" option must not be
checked on *the* Java Debug preference page.
The "Debugger timeout (ms)" must be set equal or greater than 15,000
on *the* Java Debug preference page.

That's my latest run through things. I did get a response from the
equinox group regarding use of libraries in hook libraries for use in
the preprocessing support. I will see if I can make any sense of
that. At this point, my assumption is that the first release will be
going out without that support?
Thanks,
Craig

Hi everyone,
I am glad to inform that the first MTJ 0.9 Integration Build is
available. It can be downloaded at
http://download1.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/downloads/drops/I-I20080813-200808131706/index.html
or using the
http://download1.eclipse.org/dsdp/mtj/updates/0.9/Integration/ update

We can now start executing the first cycle of testing available at
http://wiki.eclipse.org/DSDP/MTJ/Tests .
