Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] weird MPC versions causing grief
|
Hi,
you can find the plugins here:
http://download.eclipse.org/mpc/releases/1.8.1/plugins/
The version do match exactly the ones mentioned by Stephan, but the version shipped with the release was v20191106-1317. I have to investigate what went wrong there. The users that are unable to install the newest version should be able to install it from the update site: http://download.eclipse.org/mpc/releases/latest/.

Perhaps not helpful, but I observe that:
The 1757 version is available in drops:
http://download.eclipse.org/mpc/drops/1.8.1/v20191119-1757/
There is an (inaccessible to me) mirror with the 0507 version, here is the google cache:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:x2v-IJo1yqwJ:mirrors6.hit.edu.cn/eclipse/mpc/drops/1.8.1/v20191119-1757/plugins/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=safari
Could this mirror be a repackaged version? Maybe someone could check it for malware?

We've been getting some desperate bug reports about failing installations, all
mentioning that mpc artifacts cannot be found. This already happened with
version 1.7.7 but today I found some weirdness regarding version 1.8.1:
Eclipse fails to update saying:
No repository found containing:
osgi.bundle,org.eclipse.epp.mpc.core,1.8.1.v20191107-0507
No repository found containing:
osgi.bundle,org.eclipse.epp.mpc.ui,1.8.1.v20191119-1757
No repository found containing:
org.eclipse.update.feature,org.eclipse.epp.mpc,1.8.1.v20191119-1757
but the published version is actually 1.8.1.v20191106-1317 for all of the above.
How did the above versions leak to users, and what can they do to fix their
updating?
