Re: [cross-project-issues-dev] Degraded respons times from ecipse.org

For what it's worth, Bugzilla performance is hit-and-miss. Committers
have been complaining about it since the dawn of time, and will continue
to do so until Mozilla reworks some design issues with the Bugzilla
database implementation that make it lag depending on how long someone's
search takes.
See this bug for the gory details:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=153818
That being said, the Wiki has, for some unknown reason, started to lag
by about 30 seconds when you access it for the first time... There's a
caching issue that I don't yet understand, but I'll open a bug for it as
it's annoying.
We're trying to balance performance vs. features, like Wikis, live
download stats and web stats, CVS search capabilities, dynamic web
pages, frequent mail and news archives etc. but it's often difficult.
Nothing costs nothing.

Hi Denis,
I'm in Stockholm, Sweden. I see response times varying from 5 seconds to
several minutes when I for instance enter a bugzilla.
I just accessed the url you gave me. Good responstime on that one :-)

Thomas, where on this globe are you located, and can you try accessing
http://www.eclipse.org/thomas-for-president so I can get your IP
address for testing?
Thanks.

Thomas,
The Eclipse.org servers have been upgraded over the last few weeks so
that may be a factor. Personally, I haven't noticed a huge difference
in performance but that may be due to my proximity to the server. It
would probably be worthwhile to bring this to the attention of the
webmaster.

[cross-project-issues-dev] Degraded respons times from ecipse.org
Hi,
Over the last couple of weeks, I've experienced what I perceive as
degraded performance from the Eclipse.org servers. Editing the Wiki is
so slow, I almost give it up at times. Submitting bugzillas is sometimes
even worse. Commiting or updating from the CVS at dev.eclipse.org, same
thing. The problem is getting worse by the day.
Please note that while I perceive it as being a problem at the
eclipse.org end, I'm not at all sure that's the case. I'm just trying to
isolate the problem.
Have anyone else experienced the same thing?
Kind Regards,
Thomas Hallgren
