Right, but I envision they are related, having
‘most simple e2e’ say ‘go start the OSGi DC in eclipse, then
I’ll talk to it.’ Wouldn’t sound right or overly useful to
me.

OK...
So
the original intent of this enhancement request was to make "the most
simple example possible". No database, no web ui, et.
It
sounds like what you are trying to do is get the existing example running
outside of the eclipse environment in a stand alone osgi.
If
this is true, then we still have an open issue as to the design and
implementation of the "most simple e2e".

I’m just trying to start the OSGi DC
outside eclipse, in a stand alone environment and the 2 types of errors I get
are unresolved symbols and invalid bundles.
I’m hoping that the changes to the bundle definitions
joel just mentioned will do the trick.

Hi John,
Just to make sure that I'm not going crazy.... this is a different example from
the existing e2e. I believe the the ANT script to build the environment,
correct?
If you could update the wiki page with an overview of what you are trying to
do, that would be helpful. You could also post the code as an attachment
to the bugzilla enhancement request.
What part of this has failed or is giving you difficulty?
-mw
p.s. When you post the code, make sure this is created using the eclipse
"patch" mechanism. It's pretty easy to do if you've never done
it before. All you have to do is select the projects that you've changes,
right click on them and from the "Team" menu, select the "Create
Patch" option. A wizard will come up that walks you through the
rest.

My attempts to get this to work have failed, Joel (I think) mentioned he had
some kind of ANT thingy (yes that’s a very technical term) that he would
make
Available through CVS that would point people in that direction.
Joel, forgive me if it wasn’t you.

Martin,
I was going over some of the data collection enhancement requests and found
this entry:
193420: Create simple stand alone example of the data collection framework
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=193420
We briefly talked about this on one of the recent data collection calls. I
was wondering if you've thought about this more.
I've added a page for the design of it here: http://wiki.eclipse.org/COSMOS_Design_193420
I was hoping you could add some details to the wiki, then attach some code that
we could check in.
Thanks,
-mw
