Hi Oliver,
I guess I wasn't very clear about GroundWork's intentions if you draw
this conclusion:

Craig has been pretty clear that he is interested in where SML/CML

One way to get something out of someone is to put words in their
mouth for them to refute.... I wonder if this trick will work for the
others......
To the contrary, we would like to begin adopting with the June release.
I'm trying to temper expectations at GroundWork such that we keep in
mind that the June release will not have been built around a standard
set of model elements, and that there will be "grayed out" areas of
implementation.
Are there specific items that you look to adopt? Or just "GroundWork
is in the business of open source monitoring, so would use any and all
good stuff that comes out of COSMOS and June is the first time that you
could expect something"?
You mention "model elements" as a reason why the June release will be
"deficient". Is the solidification of "model" elements a post June
goal? (Bonus points if you can define what a model element is...).
We do anticipate that, as progress along a "roadmap toward the remaining
work" proceeds, we will make use of the software Eclipse COSMOS releases
to open source in our products.
Again, is it specific things you want or "whatever makes sense when
it is ready"? I think all of us are prepared to use stuff that comes
out of COSMOS, but if it is a goal for some specific software to be
"used", then we should be aware of that and articulate it.
I'd like to make use of the elevator pitch to show the executives at
GroundWork the value of extending our engagement in that progress.
Yes, that is the point and the others have agreed that this is the
raison d'etre for the June delivery. The elevator pitch should also
help us focus our efforts too....
Hope that makes things clearer...
Thanks,
Craig.
