many thanks for the hint! After adding a placeholder for the area
part, it works as expected!
Side note: Do not try to pack the area part inside a part stack,
you will get a strange exception ;) It seems differences between
editor area and views are still present here and there to some
degree ;)

Alex, thanks for the screencast. I assume that the
following has happened:
The ChromIdent perspective doesn't have an "area"
reference, which is used by other perspectives to display the
chromatograms. Hence, the chromatogram are opened in the last
"Part Stack" of the opened perspective. But this part stack
isn't available in other perspectives. Hence, chromatograms are
not displayed. Since e4, there's no differentiation between
editors and views anymore. Everything is a part.
Please try the same, open another perspective and
have a look at the "Select View" wizard. The opened shall be
displayed in the list.
Hence, each perspective shall include a reference to
the editor area.
