Re: [che-dev] Che Authentication & Authorization overview

There were questions about performance testing we did for che gateway and some of you asked if we could share the results. We did these tests to decide the technology to use (Traefik, HAProxy, nginx, Envoy). All of it was done in a simulated Che-like environment without any actual Che code involved. We used dummy http servers and measured latency and error rate. We've never tested gateway performance in real Che deployment. The numbers are there only to compare individual technologies and CAN'T be transferred to real Che performance!

Couple of links:

main result report (I'm not sure if it is or can be accessible outside of Red Hat) - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gqhlqQy6d65ktzemXKwbEFm6yfaokrPzgUcBz4gPa74/edit?usp=sharing

Hello Che friends,

To continue on the knowledge transfer topic[1], I've prepared a ~30min video about Che Authentication and Authorization model utilizing Traefik powered Che Gateway https://youtu.be/eu1Ph-Edqk4

I plan to attend the next community meeting on 6th June and do Q&A about this topic. If you're interested, please watch the video beforehand. I can also answer your questions here on the mailing list, slack and mattermost channels or github issue.

I hope you'll find it useful.
