You can also check how the Core Build projects are created. For example from the ArduinoProjectGenerator:

		CoreModel.getDefault().create(project).setRawPathEntries(new IPathEntry[] {
				CoreModel.newSourceEntry(project.getFullPath())
		}, monitor);
