6.1.0 is newer than 6.0.1. You can't install 6.0.1 into 6.1.0. You can assume the committers are fixing the bugs in both streams.

6.0.1 is purely a bug fix release. There isn't anything new and noteworthy.
The next release is 6.1 for the next release train, Helios. I'm personally hoping there won't be a 7.0 but that may depend on how badly we need to break APIs to fix up some of the areas that need it.

CDT 6.0.1 is now available as part of Galileo SR1!
The main CDT feature can be installed from the Galileo Update Site. This
feature as well as all other CDT 6.0.1 features can also be installed from
the CDT Galileo Update Site with the following URL:
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/releases/galileo
