Re: [cbi-dev] Maven release plug-in at eclipse.org
|
Yeah it's done from my workstation, and I'm totally fine with that. On my workstation I have total control whereas it would take additional work to automate it all and figure out how it would occur from a HIPP instance. I made this conscious trade-off considering releases are infrequent.
Thanks David, great help.
It looks like quite a bit of the release process is run from a developer workstation. Am I mistaken? My goal is to have all of it automated on a HIPP build. From what I can gather the main obstacle to doing that is the SCM push to git.
Spatial4j, under LocationTech which is in turn under Eclipse, uses the maven release plugin. The release process is documented here:
Hi,
Is anyone using the
maven-release-plugin at
eclipse.org? I'm working on setting up a Maven build (without using Tycho) to build and release normal Maven artifacts to Maven Central, and it looks like this is the way to do it.
The maven-release-plugin updates poms, commits and pushes the changes directly to Git, as well as pushing a tag to the remote repo. Can this be done from a HIPP instance?
Are there any examples of pure-Maven builds (i.e. without Tycho) at
eclipse.org that publish to Maven Central? I'd like to learn from a project where it has already been done. So far I've dug around on the
eclipse.org Wiki and on various bugs and haven't found concrete information.
Thanks in advance!
David
