Hi You all,
The idea of a contest is a good idea, but please take in consideration that for a design contest a lot of things must be described beforehand and will need time:
description of the product, target market, color scheme and much more, otherwise the logo will be a pretty picture with no connection to BIRT....
I’m in the design business for 35+ years... In short what I believe we need:
· The logo should be easily recognizable and associated with BIRT as a BI and reporting tool.
· It should appear modern and future-oriented.
· It should be able to be used primarily as a screen graphic in various resolutions from very small to very large in normal and dark mode.
· It should work both as a word and as a figurative mark.
· The figurative mark should also be able to be connoted with BI and Report.
· The image mark should be able to be used as a flavicon (very small resolution). Etc.
· It should be used inside a text (it must not have any protruding parts).
Among other things all these elements have been respected in the new logo design. Have a look here, to see how the new logo looks like: : BIRT test the new logo design
I hope my arguments are convincing.
Best
Christophe

Hi folks,
our Eclipse Science WG logo has been created via a contest on 99designs:

Probably, that service could be also used here.
Best,
Philip
