RE: [atf-dev] atf releated news

Title: Message
David:
This is making it really hard. To me a list of adopters
is promoting the project not the adopters.
Typically the adopters have more than their share of
adoption already. A smaller project like ATF needs the adoption love to be
shown.
You
are the WTP PMC, so I respect your call there and I understand the concern and
the need for neutrality. :-)
Hey, I will satisfy myself with "ATF sightings" some
blog posts then :-P
a
la Swing sightings.

No, I don't see how that's any different.
I think there's better ways to promote
the project ... demo's, tutorials, and "eclipse live" session, etc.
And .. of course, you can always
encourage the adopters to in turn promote the project!
But, I don't see a list of adopters as anything but
promotion of the adopters.

David:
Thanks for the guidance.
Would a set of wiki pages be acceptable?
I am not looking to promote or advertize any
company over another BUT I do value immensely adopters which are willing to
step forward to tell us that they are building products on top of ATF.
I think it is important to users and
future adopters to get some exmaples of real life products based on
ATF.
For me it is part of the
very basic things that help promote the project, not the adopters.
Cordially

Actually, there is! And, Max can still have first shot. :) as
ATF is currently empty.
See
http://www.eclipse.org/membership/exploreMembership.php
Also note, we in the WTP PMC have
previously discussed pages, links, and logos of adopters and
contributors
from
our Project pages, and decided not do it. If we ever did do it, we'd have to
develop some uniformity
policies to make sure it wouldn't encourage or be
used for commercials.
In fact, a similar topic has recently caused a small flame war on
another mailing list (modeling pmc) so I know
this is a divisive topic
(and I don't want the flame war repeated here :)
Luckily, in this case,
Eclipse Membership provides a uniform way to do it so we at individual project
levels
don't have to worry about it.
