Re: [amalgam-dev] Amalgamation project lead
|
Hi Peter,
I'm kind of confused with your interpretation of the Amalgamation project goals:
>> a forge for specialized Modeling packages that are ready-to-use for consumers
To me, this sounds more like an Eclipse Packaging Project goal. Integration and usability of modeling projects are of the primary focus of the Amalgamation project, imo. If we end up with three or more "Modeling Perspectives", new project wizards and UI capabilities sets unique for each packaging - it won't be amalgamation any longer, it would just a mess.
Best wishes,
Artem Tikhomirov

Hi,
I'm not sure if there is any recommended process for designating the project leader, but I think it'd be helpful to know who would like to become the project leader. If only one person steps forward, it's quite obvious who will be the project leader, I guess.
So here is my application for being the project lead of the Amalgamation project.
My goal as a project lead would be to continue the work of Rich and ensure Amalgamation is a forge for specialized Modeling packages that are ready-to-use for consumers (consumers being other projects or end-users).
Should there be any official / recommended process, please let us know.
Cheers,
Peter

Ian/Anne,
I asked for volunteers to step forward as committers on the Amalgam project which was left committerless after Rich's departure. Peter, Cédric, and Artem have all stepped forward, so I'd like them to be set up as the new committers for this project. I ask the three of them to designate a leader for the project.
Cheers,
Ed

My understanding is that Richard has resigned everything. Ed do you agree?
Peter, you should let Markus know you are now the package maintainer.
Ian,
I can take on responsibility. So has Rich officially resigned from this particular duty? Don't want to get into his way...

Just realized that Richard was the modeling package maintainer. Is there someone in the modeling community taking on the responsibility? Peter at one time I thought you had volunteered. We need someone to do the testing and sign-off or we can’t put it on the download page.
I still need some feedback for the packages
- Modeling
- Pulsar
- Reporting
Could you please test and send your vote?

+1 for the SOA package, tested on Windows, Mac OS X 64 and 32 bit. I did also some successful smoke tests with the Mac 64bit version of the rcp package.
