Hello, Adoptium WG members,
This is an
informational email about the Adoptium Working Group elections that will take place in
March. The intention is to make everyone eligible to start thinking about running for the elections as well as voting.
No action is required at this time.Eclipse Foundation Working Group Charters identify the key committees that drive the various facets of each Eclipse Working Group for which there are annual elected positions to be filled. In the case of the Adoptium Working Group Charter (
https://www.eclipse.org/org/workinggroups/adoptium-charter.php ), it indicates there is a Steering Committee with elected positions to represent each of the
Enterprise, Participant, and Committer Members. A reminder, Strategic Members each have a representative appointed to this committee, and thus Strategic member companies do not participate in this election.
The Eclipse Foundation plans to hold the 2024
Adoptium elections on behalf of the working group starting in early
March with a view to have the election complete prior to the end of
March.
Please note the following phases all elections follow:
- Working Group Election Announcement
- Nomination Phase (Call for Nominations)
- Nomination Acceptance Phase - Confirmation, Bio’s and Picture Submissions
- Notice of Candidates Standing Phase
- Ballot Distribution Phase
The exact timelines for each of the phases and detailed instructions on what needs to be done will be announced via email in early March.
The election process will follow the Eclipse “Single Transferable Vote” method, as defined in the
Eclipse Bylaws.
All members are encouraged to consider nominating someone for the positions, and self-nominations are more than welcome! Nominations must be received to this
general mailing list indicating related Committee/Seat by required deadlines in order to be considered.

For membership classes other than Committer Members, all individuals who are employed by an organization that is a member of that class in the working group may stand for election.
Committer Members are those who are engaged in projects under the purview of the working group are eligible to stand for election. Committers may be considered members by virtue of either a) being employed by a working group corporate member, or b) an individual committer who has executed the Adoptium Working Group’s Participation Agreement.
Ballots will be distributed via email to the members of each constituency eligible to vote. Should a situation arise where a tie occurs, then a tie breaker will be performed virtually. Please note that ballot distribution will be provided by the Eclipse Foundation via a third party election service.
