What is the difference (if there is a difference at all) between the
XML-Schema-Editor contained in the xsd-component of the WST project
and the Schema-Editor that is contained in the org.eclipse.xsd-library?
My purpose is to integrate a graphical schema-editor into a standalone
application and i'm searching for a mature open source codebase that i can
use as a starting point.

with kind regards,

Jan,

I'll try to answer some of your questions...

The xsd project provides a 'sample' XSD editor that is intended as an
example of how to create an XSD editor and how to use the XSD model...
it's actually a fairly good editor. WTP's XML Schema Editor is a more
graphical schema editor (based on GEF) with an rich source page (based on
the WTP XML editor) that provides content assist etc. I'd encourage you
to try both and use/re-use the one that suits your needs best. The WTP and
XSD project committers agree that long term we'll have to work together to
ensure that our two editor are more unified (perhaps WTP's XML Schema
editor reuses some views and actions and adds a richer source and
graphical view). This will probably take some time of course :-)

hope that helps
