Problem with help [message #63918] Fri, 13 May 2005 14:12 Go to next message

Hello,

I cannot get any help from the eclipse system. After choosing Help ->
Help Contents I get the "404 http error, The page you are looking for
might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily
unavailable." error.

The installation is copied from the another machine where everything was
fine.

I have checked 127.0.0.1:52365 [the link where eclipse leads after
choosing Help -> Help Contents] link by netstat -a and there is
something that is listening at this port.

I have tried to set up another installation of eclipse, but there was
the same problem.

my system is Windows XP SP 2.

Any tips?

Regards,

M.

I've had a similar problem. In my case the solution could be found in the
readme_eclipse file in the eclipse\readme folder. Go to section 3.1.3,
'Known issues with Help' and it suggest putting 'localhost' for the host
name. After a reboot, my Help screen perform normal.

Hope this works for you as well.

Regards, Thomas.

it didnot help, I have change the host name to localhost and port to 80
and turned off all the firewalls, etc.

When it goes to locahost:80 I get "Internal Application Server" text on
white screen for a while and then I get redirected to localhost:80/help
where I get "The document that you have requested is not available. The
link may be wrong, or you may not have the corresponding product feature
installed." message, so nothing changed :(.

Any other tips?

M.

Pity that didn't help. Unfortunately, me expertise with eclipse is one
two days old so I can't offer you any further help.

I hope someone else can help you solve it.

Regards, Thomas.
