I am showing CDT later this week to a group of Solaris C/C++
programmers. Demo will be on Win32.

I haven't used Solaris myself, so am trying to arm myself
with potential questions/caveats.

So far the newsgroup advises:
1. Use gcc, since CDT doesn't work with Sun's cc compiler? Is that true?
2. Install gdb (not surprising). An append on 10/27/2003 4:02 PM
("Installing gdb on Solaris) indicated problems in building/configuring
it on Solaris, but no indication if the problem was resolved.

Any other things I should tell/warn them about?

I would suggest to post this message to the CDT mailing list.

Beth,
I tested my feature on Solaris, and I have the following to add. The
Eclipse UI on Solaris is based on Motif, so it will not look exactly
like the version you demo.

The developers might ask what the horsepower requirements are for
running the CDT on Solaris. I don't know off the top of my head what is
recommended for Eclipse, but I would arm myself with that information.

Some users have had problems using the managed build on Solaris because
the generated makefile contains Gnu-specific extensions. If the Solaris
make utility appears on the PATH before gnu make, then the build will
fail. It's easy to solve, though.

We do not have a debugger integration story for workbench, so yes, it is
pretty much true.
