Hi all,
we've just published the first milestone for RAP 2.0. As always, you
find the update site URLs and zip downloads on our download page [1].
In this milestone, we basically did the groundwork for the changes we
plan for 2.0, but as always, there are also some new features. For the
list of noteworthy changes, see [2].
As announced earlier, we're doing some cleanup in 2.0, which inevitably
leads to breaking changes. Although we expect the migration to be smooth
for most projects, there are some minor changes that affect everyone. We
provide a migration guide [3] to assist you, and will update this guide
throughout the work on 2.0. Most of the breaking changes are already
included in M1 to give you an opportunity to adjust your projects early.
In the M2, we will move the client-to-server communication (requests) to
the new protocol and so finalize our bi-directional, fully documented
JSON protocol. Not only will this make the framework more open and
transparent, it is also an important precondition for allowing
applications to push more advanced scripting onto the client.
Enjoy,
the RAP team
