Eclipse and CVS [message #85474] Mon, 11 July 2005 22:04 Go to next message

Hi All,

I'm pretty new to using Eclipse. I know CVS can integrate pretty
seemlessly with CVS. However, my situation is that I don't have CVS setup
yet. I'm working on small project (me and 2 others) but we all will be
accessing the source code from at least 2 different PC in different
locations (all of which will have Eclipse). That said it seemed like
setting up CVS+Eclipse was a great way to manage things... Does anyone
have any recommendations for a good/simple/no-frills CVS server for
windows that works well with Eclipse?

Trying to set this up as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Thanks,
Frank

If this is production code I strongly suggest to setup a Linux box to
host your CVS repository. If this is not an option you might consider
http://www.wincvs.org

Eclipse itself play a client role and as for the server, cvsnt is not bad
choice.

Hi, Frank,

when working on Windows you have to choose cvsnt,
a port from unix to Windows and backported again,
as cvs only runs as client on windows.

But if understand correctly, you're looking for
a server.

When only needing a client the cvs perspective
in eclipse is enough.

We use that in production for some years now,
and it works great.

See -> www.cvsnt.org

BTW, if you start a project that is hosted @ sourceforge
you'll get a cvs repository too.

Regards, Gilbert

Thanks for the replies. I'm all setup with CVSNT on an XP Server.

One question if I have a project that I had started in Eclipse (no CVS)
and now want to add to a CVS repository how should I do that? I can't
seem to figure it out. I figured out how to pull a CVS module into
Eclipse but not vice versa.

THanks
Frank

I figured it out. It was a problem with my CVSNT settings.
