Preview not Refreshing [message #69445] Wed, 24 August 2005 18:56 Go to next message

Using the Report Designer, the report does not always refresh the preview
when editing labels and moving things around.

The workaround is to:
1. select a label
2. select the code tab
3. reset the function
4. save the report

The preview now displays the correct information.

Joshua,

I had the same problem .
I think the EMF and GEF plugins are not properly installed or in other
sense you should have compatible versions of everything
[eclipse,Birt,EMF,GEF] .

BIRT is currently tested with the following configurations:

Eclipse 3.0.1, and 3.0.2.
GEF 3.0.1.
EMF 2.0.3.
GEF JRE 1.4.
And
Eclipse 3.1.
GEF 3.1.
EMF 2.1.
GEF JRE 1.4/JRE 1.5.

I also have the viewer get into a state where it no longer seems to detect
that changes are being made. The symptom is that the Save button is not
enabled when a change is made. When i go to the preview i do not see the
change.

My config is the exact 3.1 config listed below (with JRE 1.5).

In my case i think some scenario involving the setting of styles is what
will get the viewer into this state for me.

My workaround is to close the report and then reopen it. After i re-open
it, the report reflects the last saved state, and i am able to make changes
again.

Marko.

Marko,

Could you please submit a bug for this issue?

When setting the new style, designer needs to make sure current report
instance becomes "dirty" and the "save" button gets enabled. Seem that
this operation bypasses all these and directly writes into the report.

When switching to "preview" tab, viewer detects the report instance's
state and refresh it if dirty.
