For representing hierarchical data structures I would need a sort of a
tree control. Somewhere the TOC control has been mentioned, but I cannot
find it in the current BIRT release.

Hi Mike,

many thanks for your reply. The features described in the draft sound
promising. I hope they will be available in an upcoming release.

Best Wishes
Frank

Frank,

The best source for Release 2.0 candidates is in the Wiki at:
http://eclipse.org/birt/wiki/index.php?n=BPS.BPS

Unfortunately, the TOC did not make the release candidate list. It
looks like what you are requesting is not actually a TOC, but a way to
expand collapse the contents of your report, is that correct? Or are
you talking about a control that would be designed to display tree-leaf
type data?

In either case if you could write up the functionality you are using and
add it to the Wiki, that would be great. You should also check the
BPS-5 Interactive Report Viewer functionality to see if that will give
you what you are looking for.

Thanks,

Hi Scott,

thanks for the information. It created an entry in the Wiki.

Hi Scott had a question about the WIKI page you pointed to.

on this page it says

"When entering comments, we would appreciate it if you would put an
"obfuscated version of your e-mail address in the author field, like
"this: user at example dot com

can you explain how this works exactly, was looking at user comment
entries and they don't seem to follow any algorithm related to this.

Thanks.

Mike,

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page, you'll see a form to add
comments. A few folks posted before we requested that people enter
obfuscated e-mail addresses in the author field, but the rest of the posted
comments follow that guideline. There's no automatic function to do the
obfuscation like there is on the PHP web site; you need to do the
translation yourself.

The main page, which is the one that Scott pointed to, is the master list of
potential projects. What we actually like to have happen is for people to
post their detailed comments at the bottom of the page that discusses the
particular project. The comments capability on the main page was intended
primarily as a way to request a major feature that wasn't in the candidate
list.

As you pointed out, BPS5 is the one that talks about report interactivity,
so that one is probably the best place to post comments about the TOC.

Thanks.

Mark
