Hi,

Since nobody seems to take much notice of Joel's question regarding SAT
earlier, here a more concrete question, what the part about OHF going to
leave Eclipse meant???

Does this mean, the OHF project as such will be dissolved and a few,
maybe considered successful enough parts shall go elsewhere? (e.g. under
Equinox, SOA, etc.)

Please let us know. I have no strategic involvement with OHF so far, but
was planning to use relevant parts for an Eclipse based MIS both for
Desktop and Mobile.

As I don't want to embarrasses myself there by proposing something with
no future, I am interested to know before telling them further about
using OHF or parts of it.

And of course from my Babel Project point I would rather ask them
directly to use Babel to localize their Eclipse products than "bother"
you with the question of OHF i18n ;-)

Werner,

Historically, OHF evolved into an umbrella project for many separate
healthcare-related subprojects.

As these subprojects have matured, OHF committers have been considering
next steps to sustain and grow the committer/developer community.

At this time, it is likely that some OHF subprojects will move to other
Eclipse projects, some will become separate Eclipse projects and others
will migrate to Open Health Tools.

You can expect a more definitive statement from the OHF committers within
the next couple of weeks.

Thanks a lot for this update.

While a few bits and pieces were already there, I was among the first
people to ever mention OHF at JavaPolis 2005 (a "Quickie" session in
front of at least 500 people or so during their lunch break, some may
have only eaten, but some clearly at least remembered the term ;-)

So I know a bit of its history though I have not followed every
sub-project in such detail after that.

STEM e.g. I did and also presented its authors to Eclipse Magazin.
(where another article of me showed the general framework earlier)

While the term "Open Health Tools" seems unclear, wheter this could be a
separate URL somewhere under an ORG domain, etc. or just means a new
umbrella under Eclipse Tools (Mylyn graduated that way) I'm glad, that
while some projects together with respective healthcare standards might
find a home elsewhere, that a majority is going to stay with Eclipse
wheter it is domain-specific or not.

I also try to gather a few people from the Financial or Insurance
Industry who some of them have started similar initiatives. And while it
is not yet time for those to think much about Umbrella projects, some
could qualify over time or find synergies...

Some quoted and saw OHF as a "role model" which is also why having this
role model evolve but not collapse, seems more promising (especially for
the financial industry where there's been a lot of "unhealthy" news
lately everywhere :-|)
