java 1.5 compliance [message #56896] Mon, 25 April 2005 15:05 Go to next message

Hi,

I have just install eclipse and started my first java project but have a
problem with java 1.5 syntax. Basically the IDE does not recognize the new
1.5 syntax. When I check the project settings the compiler compliance
allows 1.3 and 1.4 but no 1.5. What's going on? How can I get eclipse to
recognize my 1.5 java code??

I'm using the latest version from march 12th.

thanks!

You are using the 3.0.2 release of Eclipse which does not have the 1.5
support.
1.5 support has been added in the 3.1 stream of Eclipse. Try 3.1 M6

How can I upgrade from 3.0.2 without having to re-import all my
projects? It doesn't give any results if I do Help -> Search for
updates didn't give me the option to switch to 3.1.

TIA, H.

Use the -data Eclipse option to point to your exsiting workspace.

Note your workspace will be upgraded for use with 3.1...you will not then be
able to go back and use this same workspace with 3.0.2

Thanks, but let me see if I get it right: I should download & install
3.1, then start it up from the command line with the option -data
$path-to-my-workspace?

Isn't there a clean and clear way, just some option to find inside my
current Eclipse? I guess no, ah well.

Cheers, H.
