How does the Alt+click work? [message #12481] Fri, 13 July 2007 18:34 Go to next message

Hi,

In the structured views with "focus on active task" turned on, I suppose
Alt+click on an element will reveal all its uninteresting children.
But when I do that, nothing happened except that the mouse icon turned
into a "+" sign. Alt+Right arrow works as expected, although I found
that just pressing Right Arrow itself also does the same if the view is
wide enough.

Is there any configuration in Preference in order to make Alt+click
work? BTW, I'm on a Linux machine (Ubuntu 6.06) if it's relevant.

Thanks,
Xiaoyang

A short explanation of how it works is here:

http://www.eclipse.org/mylyn/tips/

And a longer one here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn_User_Guide#Alt.2BCli ck_navigation

Thanks Mik.

Follow-up: the problem I had was because the window manager uses
Alt+click for moving a window. Setting the window movement key to
something else makes Alt+click navigation in Mylyn work as expected.

Thanks for following up Xiaoyang. The work-around should be described here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn_User_Guide#Installin g_on_Linux

If there's anything lacking it would be great if you could update that
entry.

More specifically (I wrote that entry ;-) ) here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/Mylyn_User_Guide#Keyboard_ mappings_on_Linux>

Please consider voting on the Eclipse bug

#55236: Please support SWT.MOD4 on platforms other than the Mac

It is about adding Meta key support to Eclipse (for Linux).

Cheers, Jörg
