Ed, I really hope to get some time again to play again with EMF+RAP.
Using the EMF runtime in RAP is no problem at all (see our RAP/E4[1]
effort - the whole workbench is modeled and also works as RAP
application). The only part left is to get RAP to a point that all
generated editors etc work out of the box on RAP. With the new cell
editor support this gets even more interesting.
As I said, I'd be really interested in that topic but as don't have the
time either. But in my eyes this is a great topic for contributors.

Benjamin,
Yes, I think the EMF RAP combination is very interesting and with the
excellent progress on supporting things like cell editors leaves very
few issues outstanding. I do hope to find some time during the new
release cycle for this, but as you say, it's an excellent opportunity
for community contribution too...
Cheers,
Ed

Stephen,
I've not done anything with that patch since the initial effort. I just
don't have the capacity to maintain more stuff so there would need to be
folks willing to make a long term commitment to support and maintain
what's needed... RAP especially has changed quite a bit, i.e., more of
what EMF needs is supported now so less of the framework needs to be
deleted...
