Hello.

I was looking at the Agent Controller configuration page for Windows -
http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/home/downloads/installguide/Agen tController41.html

and noticed that the requirement for JDK/JRE is 1.4. Does that mean Java
1.5/5.0 does not work w/ profiling?

Thanks in advance.

Although TPTP doesn't officially support JDK 1.5, I've personally tested
the profiler with JDK 1.5 and didn't find any problems. Now the test
cases obviously don't cover every single use case, but I don't really
suspect you'll find any problems using the profiler with JDK 1.5.

In my experience TPTP does not work at all with JDK 1.5/Java5. Please
have a look at the following bug report:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=125643

Hello all ->

Thanks for your replials.
Ideally, I would like to be able to profile with the following 1.5/5.0
constructs/features:
1. Collections (Sort, etc...)
2. ArrayList/HashMap (with type parameters)
[3. for/in loop]

I am trying to profile web services. Thus, my current setup:
Windows XP SP2
Java 1.5.0_06 (5.0)
WTP 1.0 (all-in-one)

I was going to try to use TPTP 4.1; should I try the TPTP 4.2M4 release
(per Andreas's link)?

Thanks again for everyone's responses so far. If I figure something out
(or an answer to the conflicting info), I'll try to post.

Is there a good link/docs on the Profiler? I was looking the other day
and came up pretty much empty handed.

Mark,

On the TPTP website, click on Documents -> under User Guides &
Demonstrations, there is a document called "An Introduction in Profiling
Java Applications (v3.2.0)" and there is also a video called: "Demo:
Profiling an application".
