We are experiencing a wierd issue which I believe to be SWT related but googling for this problem is hard because of the generic terms.

Problem:
Sometimes when you click on the RCP/SWT application the application/window underneath gets the click event.

We are running RCP 3.2.2 which uses org.eclipse.swt.win32.win32.x86_3.2.2.v3236.jar

I've had this happen with RSA 7.5 as well.

Has anyone else ever experienced this problem and know what to do to solve it?

Hi,

It could be an swt bug, though it's difficult to say for sure without
actually seeing it. Do you have a reproducable case of it? And if so, is
it reducable to something that can be provided (eg.- a stand-alone snippet
with template http://www.eclipse.org/swt/faq.php#whatisasnippet )?

Also, SWT 3.2.2 is pretty old, and there may have been fixes in the area of
window ordering in the meantime. Do you have any way of testing your case
with a newer SWT version?

Sadly its not reproducible, it only happens intermittently.
The best way to see this exercised with some chance of success is when your cpu usage is high and the application is doing something intensive that slows down redraws.
(Or have a slow CPU - the boxes we are using are P3's running inside cars for our mobility application)

Unfortunately I think the work needed to bring this up to date with a newer RCP is greater than we can afford to invest at this time. I'll have a go to see whether I can do it easily thhough.

As I said in the original post I've seen it happen with IBM's RSA 7.5 as well so I was hoping others had also seen it and could point me to a bug report that has been fixed.

I'll try logging the request with IBM as well but its a difficult thing to describe so I didn't expect support to be able to find a similar defect easily.

Thanks for the reply
Barrie
