Solaris x86 CDT1.0? [message #51338] Thu, 21 November 2002 16:25 Go to next message

Hi all,

Is there a CVS snapshot anywhere for the CDT1.0 release? (or how might I
get the 1.0 version from CVS?!)

I've just got Eclipse up and running on Solaris x86 Edition, and want to
get the CDT going too... has anyone already done this and got a tar I
could have to save me the effort? ;-)

Thanks,

Kieran.

There is no snapshot of the source.

You can check out the source out from CVS using the following tag
GA_1_0_candidate_20021108

Thanks for the very kind words.
When we do build of the CDT, we also do a solaris build. You can get it from
the www.eclipse.org/cdt
downloads.
It is a zip file, but most systems have apps that can unzip a zip file.

Just out of curiosity, why zip and not tar? Tar is after all available
by default on all Unices, but zip isn't.

I could only see a Solaris SPARC build - I'm using Solaris x86 - any plans
to include Solaris x86 builds in the future?! (the build was very easy,
only a few things needed tweaking for x86)

We are not currently officialy supporting Solaris Sparc. I would be
interested to know what needed to be tweaked.
If it is simple we could potentially add a Solaris x86 build to our matrix
(no promises!).

We build all the distribution zips on a windows x86 machine. We do not
currently have a Solaris box for this purpose.
Our Ant scripts create zips in this environment.

Sorry ... perhaps this will be remedied in the future. As it stand the main
CDT contributors have each agreed to support certain platforms. So far, this
has not extended to the build environmetn and we are hoping to eventually
have our builds become integrated with the main Eclipse builds.

In the meantime we have to put up with a few growing pains.

And anyway the Eclipse platform ships as .zip files. You'd have to
change that as well, since just changing the CDT wouldn't solve the
problem.

Thank you Tom,

You are absolutely correct.
