Hi Bill! Thanks for your offer to help. My focus is on the EPF Composer
tooling. Off the top of my head, here are some ideas for you to focus on
right away:

EPF Composer needs thorough testing in two dimensions. The first is in
the dimension of cross-platform compatibility. This means being able to
build, run, and view published content on non-Windows operating systems
like UNIX, Linux, OS X, BSD, and any others where Eclipse can run.

The second dimension has to do with upcoming releases from Eclipse, like
3.2, and upcoming releases of EMF, GEF, etc. We want EPF Composer to
stay current with other Eclipse projects, so having an idea of how we
are affected ahead of time is valuable. I have not yet tried building
and running EPF Composer under the latest WTP all-in-one SDK 1.1, for
example. EPF Composer is stable on Windows, so I would recommend
starting there for this work.

This guide was recently written, as is most of the material on the site,
so any feedback you have about that is appreciated.

Hi Bill,

on top of the tooling component, which Jim elaborated on, there are also a
number of things we need to be worked upon in the BUP component team.
Over the last couple of weeks, there has been a number of meetings aiming at
producing a list of things that needs further work. I see that this list has
not yet been posted on the epf web site, but I would expect it to be posted
any day now.

Also, if you have not already, I suggest you sign up to the epf-dev mailing
list, which will give you more info on meetings and discussions, aiding you
in better understanding what is going on and what you can contrubute with.

Based on what you want to work on, tooling aspects, BUP, or something else,
you may also post a note at the epf-dev mailing list, and participate in the
next meeting for the component you want to work on.

I do have access to several of the environments you'd like to test on,
including Mac OS X, Linux, and AIX. I'd be more than happy to do some
testing on those platforms.

I'd also like to get more involved in BUP in any capacity. In my current
position, I'm the resident 'process geek'. We're currently in the middle
of a large project using the RUP process and toolset, but this project is
the exception - usually we develop in smaller teams, with smaller budgets
and less ceremony than the RUP calls for. Needless to say, it sounds like
the BUP fits in perfectly with our needs. I don't think we're unique in
that aspect, either.

Hi Bill,

There are lots of things going on related to BUP where help will be
appreciated.
You can check the latest discussions we had in the past few weeks with some
actions items for committers/contributors to work on (see
http://www.eclipse.org/epf/bup_component/SIGs_meetings_minut es.php).

Also we usually have conference calls to discuss topics that could be of
your interest. Please check the epf-dev mailing list for information on
those calls.
