All of a sudden my paste (control V) into Replace Text Matches fails.
Every time it wants to paste an old buffer from earlier in the day.

Copy and paste in to the editor works. Paste has worked before today.

I've tried re-copying the text. I've pasted in to other apps no problem.
I've re-booted the OS (winXP) and restarted eclipse. Same problem, same
old buffer.

Now it seems that I get this old buffer of text in every Eclipse text
entry field.

I managed to get the old buffer to change one time but I can't reproduce it.

Any hints? Any workaround? It makes eclipse not very useful to say the
least.

I have PDE and source so any way of debugging would also be welcome.

John

More curious info: when I paste and get the old buffer, my editor window
highlights the old text.

Does eclipse support replacing a single line of text with multiple lines
in the Search..Replace function?

To my surprise, the answer maybe no! This explains my problem: when I
paste into the replace field, only the first line shows up, which I
interpreted as an old bit of text (as it accidentally was).

Yes.

In fact only the first line is taken and used to search/replace.

? How can "only the first line is taken" also be "Yes" its supported?
I'd say its more like "there is a bug: multi line replacements are
ignored and you are not warned".

You can say for pasting but search/replaces works by using regex.
