I want to have people use my shiny new plugin. How?

I tried to create an update site but the install fails. (no repository
found for osgi.bundle).

I manually copied the plugin .jar file into a plugin directory. No
effect, my items don't show up.

The plugin works in PDE if I launch Eclipse Application.

Ideas on how to debug this?

Thanks,
John.

I went back to my plugin and did export wizard. After puzzling over why
my build.xml kept vanishing I discovered
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=82302
Then I put the resulting .jar file in a plugin directory and it works.

I think that the update site / feature stuff assumes that you have set
up the plugin build correctly. Of course you can't test it.

Go back to your plugin. Open the plugin.xml, step through the checklist
on the overview page. Export the plugin jar file and test in a fresh
eclipse copy.
